  • National study to increase knowledge about sexual harassment in academia

    [16 Dec 2019] In May 2020, a national prevalence study within the framework of the Research and collaboration programme to combat sexual harassment and gender-based victimisation. The study will be the first of its kind and aims to provide an evidence base for more effective efforts against sexual harassment in academia.

  • New Gender Studies Association in Sweden

    [13 Dec 2019] The inaugural meeting of a new Gender Studies Association in Sweden (ÄG) was held at the g19 research conference in Gothenburg in October. The Sveriges genusforskarförbund (Swedish Gender Research Confederation - SGF) met during the g19 conference and elected a new Board.

  • "Our silence is the biggest threat to democracy"

    [13 Dec 2019] During 2020, the Swedish Secretariat for Gender Research, along with the Swedish Association of University Teachers and Researchers (SULF) and the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions (SUHF), intends to conduct a survey of researchers¿ experiences of being exposed to hate speech and threats. This issue was raised during the g19 researcher conference.

  • Few initiatives for young people who have sex for compensation in the Nordic countries

    [2 Dec 2019] Young people who have sex for compensation are a vulnerable, particularly preyed-on group, but in the Nordic countries few specifically targeted social initiatives are offered to this group. This is shown in a new report entitled Young People, Vulnerabilities and Prostitution/Sex for Compensation in the Nordic Countries.

  • New assignments from the Nordic Council of Ministers

    [4 Nov 2019] The Swedish Secretariat for Gender Research has been assigned three new Projects by the Nordic Council of Ministers, all beginning in 2019. These assignments focus on mapping research and knowledge about sexual harassment in working life, sustainability and gender equality in the high-tech working life of the future, and mapping and analysing the LGBTI field in the Nordic region. The projects are performed within the Secretariat's Nordic assignment NIKK, Nordic Information on Gender.
