In 2012, the Swedish Secretariat for Gender Research resumed the tradition of regular national gender conferences by organising the g12 conference in Gothenburg. Two years later, g14 was held in collaboration with UCGS at Umeå University, and g16 was held in collaboration with Tema Genus at Linköping University. The next g-conference we organise in Gothenburg on 7-9 October 2019.

The conferences aim to bring together the broad and interdisciplinary fields that constitute Swedish gender research today, and thereby create the conditions for critical review, the exchange of experiences, and opportunities to form new constellations. The principal target group for these conferences is researchers, but they are open to anyone who wishes to register.

Gender research is a relatively young field of research where there is constant development of concepts, methods and research objects. Today, there are scholars with a gender orientation in virtually all academic disciplines and interdisciplinary research, while there are also scholars in the specific field of gender studies. Horizontal themes and keynote sessions for the conference are arrived at through discussions in a scholarly committee. In addition, the conference programme constitutes the submitted abstracts from researchers, activists and practitioners in the field of gender studies and gender equality.
